About this project

The interiors of security envelopes are printed with visual patterns to conceal any confidential information held within them. These decorative patterns are remarkably varied, from stripes to sprinkles, wovens to woodgrain; perhaps they were designed for surprise and amusement, rather than utility alone.

I started collecting these security envelopes more than a decade ago and their patterns have inspired various projects, from risograph prints to generative animations. By sharing my collection here, I hope that you will enjoy looking at them too.
